TIMBAILA is a Wroclaw salsa school. It has started its regular classes with a hot and spicy cuban style in February 2010. The school not only popularises Cuban dance, mainly salsa, but is also distinguished by presenting its strong and pulsing style called TIMBA.
TIMBAILA has already had some succeses on its account – organisation of Cuban salsa workshops called Timbailando. They were led, by iniciator of the workshops – Israel Gutierrez, a well-known cuban dancer and choreographer. Israel is also a ‘godfather’ of Timbaila.
The school is active not only on the Polish market but also abroad. Founders of the school are passionate about cuban dance and have been present in Polish salsa society for a couple of years.
INSTRUCTORS:
Maciej Polrolnik – his first salsa steps took in 2004 in Grzegorz Caban’s salsa school in Czestochowa - Sabores de Salsa, where he was developing his skills for more than a year. A year later he moved to Wroclaw and started to teach salsa in a couple of salsa schools. He was connected with Palacyk dance school and Alba Holder’s and Iza and Jose Torres’s schools as well. He is also a participant of many salsa events and congresses in Poland and abroad.
One of his greatest achievements were leading workshops during Rueda Rekord 2009 in Warsaw, running open classes for the audience of Primavera Salsa Open in Wroclaw 2007, Rueda Gigant on the Wroclaw’s main square during Torres Salsa Festival 2009 as well as participating in many shows and animations at the parties. He has developed his dancing skills by participating in classes led by salsa instructors such as Israel Gutierrez, Seo Fernandez, Jorge Camaguey and others.
Michal Lewandowski – he had his first contact with salsa in Wroclaw clubs such as Rura and Casablanca. His dancing education started in summer 2006 In Torres Salsa Group. After a year of taking active part in classes he joined the show team of Torres Salsa Group and the next year he was invited to lead cuban salsa and rueda de casino classes.
He has participated in many salsa congresses in Poland (he even helped to organise one of those) and Europe, such as Carnaval de Salsa (today Torres Salsa Festival), Primavera Salsa Open or Cubamemucho. He has developed his skills on classes led by Israel Gutierrez, Osbanis Tejeda, Rogelio Lorda or Jorge Camagüey.
He is also a rookie promoter of Cuban music and dance in Poland and all over the Europe. On his ‘self-developed’ HabanAudio blog there can be found the newest info from the Cuban music world. As a DJ HabanAudio he is one of few Polish Djs who play mainly timba. He played during Rueda Rekord 2009 and Timbailando 2009 with Israel Gutierrez as well as Torres Salsa Festival the same year. He could also be heard in Wroclaw’s Antidiotum, Tawerna or 9 Brama.
Anna Krasicka – she has been connected with dance since age 15. Her dance background is a sport classic dance, participation in many dance championships as well as classic dance technique or contemporary dance classes. In 2003 she has begun her cuban salsa adventure in Iza and Jose Torres’ (‘Cuban salsa embassadors‘) salsa school. She has also a connection with Alba Holder’s Salsa School.
Anna has been leading erotic dance classes, for couple of years. Thanks to her this kind of dance has gained a lot of popularity in Wroclaw and all over Poland. During her classes she presents elements of sexy dance and sensual moves which cause men to go crazy. She also leads latino aerobic classes which are dynamic mix of latin dance and aerobic. She runs her workshops also during PROGRESSteron Women Development Festival.
In order to develop her dance skills she has been taking part in many international salsa congresses in Poland as well as abroad. She also attended classes of many international instructors, for example: Barbara Jimenez, Lien Ramos, Janet Fuentes, Israel Gutierrez.
